Bio

Dick Lundgren with a background in science, business administration and economics founded Men at Work in 1991. After several years as an Account Executive for some of Sweden´s leading advertising agencies Dick wanted to change his life and create a workspace where he could combine his interests in Design and Human Relations with his MBA. A place where he could apply his management ideas where strict business values did not always rule. He wanted to establish a company where Quality of Life was the main objective - both for himself and for people around him. After running Men at Work for 20 years his concept has proven successful. Both his personal and professional life have benefited enormously from the idea that every company decision has to be judged both from the business and personal perspective. How will a change affect our daily lives? Not only – "Will this make us more profitable?". When Dick is not working he enjoys art, photography and design – both as a spectator and as a creator. He is also an avid fan of his toys. After 13 years (and more than 2500 hours in the garage) he finished restoring his 1962 Daimler. But Dick also loves the outdoors. Skiing, biking, cross country skating and working on his summer house in the Swedish archipelago take up a lot of his time. Over the years Dick has been involved in a wide array of projects, ranging from such diverse topics as Manager for the first Swedish Mountaineering team to concur Mt. Everest to creating a Gay Art Project made from tens of thousands of colored beads...

The TED story

I first went to TED in Long Beach, 2009 - together with Lena Maria Klingvall who was one of the speakers that year (and one of the most fascinating persons one can imagine) and met up with June Cohen (who is one of the coolest friends one can have). It was great! I had heard of TED for many years and actually was one of the very first TED Translators. Have since been to TEDActive 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, TEDGlobal 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and in London in 2015. Now it is time for TEDGlobal again. I love TED not only because of the talks but also because of all the wonderful and inspiring friends I have made. A few year ago I was asked to join the Senior Advisory Board for TEDxSTOCKHOLM and am now referred to as a Cultural Ambassador.
