Bio

Left the previous work and pursuing to be a professional and qualified linguist. Currently trying to build my profile and experience in translation and interpretation.

I'm passionate about

Promoting Chinese culture and learning in the local community. The driver behind is that I am away from home across continents, and where I live has no Asian or Chinese community. I think we have a lot of interesting information to share and it is great for young generation to absorb some basic concepts about the culture and languages. My voluntary experience in the local community included giving talk to the local primary school about Chinese New Year, and showing them some artifacts related to the celebrations; demonstrated Chinese cooking with the pupils and the most recent is running a chinese cultural group in the local library with the support of the local council.

The TED story

I listened to countless of TED videos on YouTube when I was facing difficulties in life. I learnt a lot from those professionals, successful celebrities and ordinary people through their sharing, from researches to life stories, they are so powerful and inspiring. I remember listened to a Taiwanese professor talking about "what is the priority in life?" which wasn't subtitled at all (none). I wish it could be as it is so meaningful to many other people out there by learning the beauty of the stories and messages shared by her. When I had the chance to join TED as a translator, I was so excited!! I think it is a bit of faith linking me up to this wonderful platform to be part of the amazing work TED is doing. Very proud to be one of the big family. I look forward to sharpen my translation skill along the journey with TED and one day, I will arrive at my destination of being a professional translator and interpreter.

Things you might not know

Cooking! Love it so much, I genuinely believe it is a must-have skill for life, second to swimming! My mom is a good cook and I inherited her wonderful desire to show the love via making a yummy family meal. I insist of having home cook healthy food for us, as we haven't had a diverse food choice in the town. I miss home and miss my mom's cooking so much. I could cure my home-sick by replicating the delicious home-taste. If you live in or visit Malaysia before then you will truly understand what I meant!
