Susan Zhang

Born in China, educated in Australia, currently living and working in the UK. Presented 1st TEDx talk in Sydney 2015, topic: 'tipping points'. Susan Zhang is an early-stage VC, serial entrepreneur, motivational speaker and creative technologist with more than ten years of expertise in leadership, business and technology space. She is passionate about propelling cross-cultural relationships and communicates swiftly across borders. Susan effectively brings a salient combination of technical prowess and commercial acumen to Google and later on ByteDnce. In 2014, Susan joined Google Sydney to manage the 'G Suite'(Gmail, Drive and Calendar) for APAC then in Business Development for Google Arts & Culture. Susan then promoted to Google London as a creative technologist to work on Data-driven Creative solutions, delivered global award-winning campaign launches using highly advanced AI technology and custom-made solutions for programmatic advertising. In 2018, she moved to Shanghai, as Director of Global Sales with ByteDance (TikTok), to lead senior sales globally for the overseas expansion and monetization strategy. Later on, she transferred to HQ in Beijing to lead Global Public Policy and Global Partnerships programs for TikTok, an internationally popular short-form mobile video app that frequents the top of the App Store and Google Play. As a serial entrepreneur, Ms Zhang has founded multiple start-ups companies, including Dragon Translating and Interpreting Service, which helps Australian businesses and government agencies to improve cultural understanding of China. She uses these experiences to mentor young entrepreneurs in Australia, UK, Canada, and China. She also serves as an advisory board member for several technology firms, providing guidance in areas such as AI, innovation integration and D&I. She is a committee member for the Institute of Director's Young Directors Forum in London and was part of the UK and Australia delegations to the G20 Young Entrepreneurs Alliance (G20 YEA) Summit. As an International speaker, Ms Zhang has spoken at TEDx and Vivid events in Sydney, as well as the AI Summit and International Marketing and Innovation Summit in China. She was a returning guest speaker at the Asia Business Forum held by London Business School(LBS), and at the China Development Forum held by the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).
