About Claudia
Bio
I began translating as a volunteer in 2006 and gained my Diploma in Translation in 2009, with semi-specialisations in technology and science. I also have a BA in English Literature (First Class) and an MA in English (Merit), and a particular interest in literary translations.
I grew up in Switzerland and Italian is my native language; at school, I then started learning French at 6 and German at 12. As Switzerland counts these three languages as its official ones, it was very natural being surrounded by and interacting with them whilst growing up, whether it was reading the ingredients of a cereal box in the three languages at breakfast or catching the latest episode of a series which was only shown in French.
I've been living in London for half of my life, since my late teens, and have completed my academic studies in the UK, as well as having spent three years in the US, in California. As a result, my English is essentially of native quality and I feel extremely comfortable translating into it.
I worked for years as a university administrator, which has made me really organised and adept in multitasking. As a person, I am accurate, reliable, knowledgeable, and I take pride in a well-accomplished job.
