Emilia Garito is an Italian engineer and computer scientist, specialized in System Dynamics, an approach to understand the nonlinear behavior of complex systems. Emilia Garito is engineer and computer scientist, co-founder and Chairman of Deep Ocean Capital SGR S.P.A., a company authorized by Banca D'Italia for managing VC funds as Deep Blue Ventures - her VC fund investing in Deep Technologies in Italy and abroad. She is also Founder and Chairman of Quantum Leap S.r.l. - a leading Italian company (recently bought by Be Shaping the Future) leader in Tech Transfer and Open Innovation. She worked for ten years in Leonardo S.P.A. (at date Finmeccanica S.P.A) company leader in the world in Aerospace, Defence and Security sector. She played a role as Project Manager for Italian Air Force and Sales Manager for NATO Countries in the Naval field. She brought her experience as Tech Transfer expert gained as an Innovation Expert for the European Commission's Research Executive Agency in the evaluation of Horizon 2020 projects on Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, as well as Jury Member at the European Innovation Council (EIC). She has a fifteen years experience in the evaluation of IP and advisory to emerging start ups in various disruptive technologies fields, as well as SMEs and public company. She also advises many large VC and investment funds as to the value and relevance of the technology of target companies. She is the inventor of IP LCM (Intellectual Property LifeCycle Management), method protected through copyright and patent used in large italian company to create, manage and valorize their IP portfolio through the right balance between IP Strategy and Business Strategy. She is one of the 100 Forbes succes women and leader in 2023 and co-author of many articles and books.

It started in 2011 when I decided to apply for a license, but the license was not available and the event was not organized. After 2 years I finally did the application - the license became available - and I started my adventure. I worked to find the team and, after that, I worked to transfer to them my passion about TED - mostly after my attending to TEDActive 2013. Step by step we worked constantly all together to shape our first TEDx event and to bring new ideas in our city from every where in and out of Italy. In 7 years we organized several events and our community has grown quickly. Many people discovered theTEDx format and our goal was to propagate the energy of different thoughts through showing the power of ideas. Now we are working with many people to create a strong roman ecosystem of the creativity and culture. What about the future? The story could continue with a new maturity in creating a stronger and bigger community that embraces the TED values and brings them in each field of humanity, society and professional life. We need to come back to the most deep meaning of humanity and to put the bigger effort in respecting the human values, through the authenticity and ethic. It is the time to come back to the normality, it is the time to invent a new humanity.
