Kazunori Asada

Entrepreneur, Investor, Scientist

A native of Hokkaido, Japan. I graduated from University of Electro-Communications in Tokyo with a bachelor of Information Mathematics. I have established my career in the information technology field as an entrepreneur, as well as an engineer. I contributed to the development and success of ASCII Corporation and B.U.G., Inc. In 1997, I established my own startup company "Open Loop Inc.", which provides information security technology. As CEO, I not only helped my company to achieve advancements in the field, but also was successful in leading Open Loop to Initial Public Offering in Japan (2001). In 2002, after surpassing my original goals, I decided to expand my engineering research to Bioinformatics. I also pursued my doctorate at Hokkaido University, Institute for Genetic Medicine and finished a degree of Ph.D (Medical Science) in 2006. I researched combining Information technology and RNA interference(RNAi). I have also join B-Bridge(RNAi technology company)’s Chief Business Officer as of 2004, and Napa Jenomics(Drug Delivery System technology company)'s Executive Vice President as of 2005. In 2008, I gained admission into doctoral program of Keio University Graduate School of Media Design and finished a degree of Ph.D (Media Design) in 2011. Now, I am working as an independent scientist and developing the minority assisting technology such as: "Chromatic Glass" for color vision deficient persons to enhance a color visibility, "Chromatic Vision Simulator" for simulating the CVD's vision, "Blighter and Bigger" which make characters legible for a presbyopia, a cataract and low-vision. Those application are released for free. Member of board of directors of TEDxSapporo science 2013.
