About Buse
Bio
Hello!
I am Buse Çopur. For me, translation is not just about transferring words from one language to another; it is about building bridges between cultures, ideas, and people.
My degree in Translation and Interpretation from Bilkent University and my professional experience have taught me the technical aspects of language; however, translating for TED reminds me of the true power of words. I believe that knowledge should be universal and that language barriers should not stand in the way of inspiring ideas. That is why I am proud to be part of this global dialogue by bringing wonderful talks from around the world into my language.
When I am not translating, you can find me learning Japanese, reading literary classics, or discovering new places.
An idea worth spreading
"Great things are done by a series of small things brought together."
— Vincent Van Gogh
The TED story
Working in foreign trade showed me how goods cross borders, but translation taught me how emotions do. I realized that while products can be shipped anywhere, ideas need a vessel to travel. I became a TED translator to ensure that empathy and innovation travel just as far as commerce does.
Things you might not know
Reading traditional Turkish coffee fortunes! I can spot symbols and stories in a coffee cup just as well as I can find the perfect nuance in a translation.
