Bio
I grew up in Kazakhstan, studied in the United States, and now live and work in Russia.
More than anything, I love learning - and learning different things. My day job is teaching researchers across Russia and former Soviet Union to use scientific information wisely and publish in international journals. My new favorite side project is public speaking coaching - I am currently developing an online course for that. I can also always be found taking another MOOC on Coursera or other platform in my free time.
Other favorite topics include: living and traveling in different countries, contemporary art and museum space, fiction and poetry.
I'm passionate about
Online education, contemporary art, science, travel, everything being connected to everything else.
An idea worth spreading
Anyone can learn any skill if it is properly deconstructed. We have figured out how to teach reading or driving a car pretty well. Almost anyone who starts on one of these picks the skill.
But what happens with things like creativity? Or leadership? Or public speaking? How can we make those accessible to learn?
I am currently working on a project to teach public speaking in a simple and structured way. So that, like driving a car, anyone can learn it. Also like driving, being able to convey our ideas can transport us - and others - to where we want to get. Or maybe even somewhere else, a place we didn't know existed.
The idea of TED is especially dear to me - it is a clear example of how public speaking can make a difference to the world.
