• Cai Harrison

  Student

  I am the child of a former Air Force officer and a young mother, and much of my early education took place at home as my family moved frequently for my dad’s job. Growing up across different places has shaped how I see the world and the people in it. I now find myself in Cape Town for my senior year, carrying with me a desire to make a difference. I aspire to become a human rights lawyer, giving a voice to those who are too often unheard. My journey into public speaking is part of that goal, building the confidence and courage to speak up, stand up, and advocate for others.

  I’m Carys Morkel, a student at the American International School of Cape Town. I love to travel, and for me, the world has always been my classroom. Traveling has taught me that real growth happens outside your comfort zone, and that the biggest lessons come from taking risks, embracing the unknown, and building meaningful connections along the way.

  I am a student at the American International School of Cape Town and the child of parents who work for the embassy, which has meant moving frequently throughout my life. I used to find it difficult, but over time I have come to see each move as a new opportunity to learn and grow. With every transition, it has become easier to adapt. Thanks to the internet, I have been able to build and maintain a global network of friends, allowing me to stay connected no matter where I am in the world.

  I’m Jeffrey, a senior at the American International School of Cape Town. Every habit I have whether it’s hitting the gym, playing video games, or making music has a story behind it, and it’s probably not what you’d expect. My life is a mix of extremes. Some days you’ll find me in the gym, pushing myself and chasing progress. The gym teaches me discipline and focus, lessons I carry into everything I do. Other days, I’m completely absorbed in video games, forgetting the world exists. Music, though, is the thread that ties it all together it’s how I focus, escape, and hype myself up.

  I am a Grade 9 student at the American International School. I am passionate about music and the joy it brings me when I play. I am a pianist and love expressing myself through sound. I also enjoy mathematics and exploring how it works in everyday life, finding patterns and connections in the world around me.

• MaLisa Ndimba

  I’m MaLisa, a student at the American International School of Cape Town. I discovered my passion for creativity at a young age through sewing, which led me from crafting heart-shaped needle holders to running a small scrunchie business and creating fashion for school events. Through taking risks, embracing challenges, and trying the unexpected, I’ve learned that creativity and courage go hand in hand and that even the smallest ideas can lead to unforgettable experiences.

  I am a Grade 10 student at the American International School of Cape Town. I am a twin and have a sister, which has been a meaningful part of my journey growing up. I have a passion for running and hiking, and I enjoy exploring the natural beauty of the Western Cape. Spending time outdoors allows me to connect with my surroundings and find balance in a busy world.

Like Brazil, Cape Town is rich in diversity, and I have come to love the many cultures and people that make it so unique. Experiencing different cultures has shaped my perspective and deepened my appreciation for connection, community, and the stories that bring people together.

  I am a Grade 9 student at the American International School of Cape Town and the youngest of three siblings. I recently moved to Cape Town after spending six years living in Malta and seven years in England. Having lived in multiple countries, I have developed a global perspective, although I consider myself Swedish. Moving so often has sparked my curiosity about the world, and I have grown to enjoy learning about different cultures and history, and how they shape who we are.

  I’m Zara, an only child and proud of it. Growing up taught me to be resourceful, creative, and fearless, whether inventing games, recruiting cousins for mischief, or making my own adventures. Being an only child hasn’t been lonely or boring it’s taught me to connect, adapt, and make the most of every opportunity.
