• Bancha Muhae

  Community Activist

  Bancha Muhair, also known as Dee Bunu, is a 40-year-old Karen from Doi Chang Pa Pae Village, Ban Hong District, Lamphun. He grew up outside his village to pursue his education and trained in singing and playing the Teh Na Gu to convey his community’s stories through music. While studying, he witnessed deforested mountains and decided to return to work with his community. Currently, he coordinates environmental initiatives, especially wildfire management, creating a sprinkler-based firebreak system that integrates modern technology with local indigenous knowledge to sustainably protect both the forest and traditional ways of life. บัญชา มุแฮ (ดีบูนุ) ชาวกะเหรี่ยงจากบ้านดอยช้างป่าแป๋ จังหวัดลำพูน ผู้ใช้เสียงดนตรีและการลงมือทำจริงเพื่อปกป้องผืนป่าและวิถีชีวิตของชุมชน จากบทเรียนของภูเขาหัวโล้น เขากลับมาสร้างระบบแนวกันไฟแบบสปริงเกอร์ที่ผสานเทคโนโลยีสมัยใหม่กับภูมิปัญญาท้องถิ่น เพื่อปกป้องทั้งป่าและผู้คนอย่างยั่งยืน

• Bhummikitti Ruktaengam

  Sustainable Tourism Champion

  Bhummikitti Ruktaengam (Go) is Vice President of the Tourism Council of Thailand and President of the Sustainable Tourism Development Foundation. Based in Phuket, he has championed community-based tourism and innovative visitor fee schemes that fund conservation and waste management, making Phuket a model for climate-conscious travel in Asia. He also advises the Phuket Chamber of Commerce, Phuket Tourism Association, and national tourism committees, while serving as Honorary Consul of Belgium. • Charika Channuntapipat

  Climate Action Connector

  Charika Channuntapipat (Bo) is a researcher and head of the Business and Sustainable Development Research Team at the Thailand Development Research Institute (TDRI). Her main research areas include sustainability management, sustainable finance, and the role of accounting in sustainable development. She has conducted studies and projects on corporate sustainability, disclosure and assurance, as well as sustainable finance practices.   Bird Habitat Expert

  Charley Hesse is a professional birding guide with Tropical Birding in Chiang Mai, Thailand, and co-host of the Naturally Adventurous podcast. A lifelong birder and natural history enthusiast, he has lived in the UK, Japan, Ecuador, South Africa, and now Thailand. Charley leads international birding tours and shares stories of wild places and rare species through his podcast and photography. With a global perspective and passion for biodiversity, he inspires others to explore and connect with nature more deeply.

• David Lallemant

  Builder of Climate-Resilient Futures

  Dr. David Lallemant is a disaster risk and climate resilience expert with deep roots in Southeast Asia. Born in Chiang Mai, he is now Associate Professor at Nanyang Technological University, where he leads the Disaster Analytics for Society Lab. His work blends risk modeling, spatial analytics, and systems thinking to help communities and businesses build resilience. David co-founded the Averted Disaster Award and Ventrx, a climate risk analytics company. Through research, entrepreneurship, and storytelling, he champions resilience as more than survival—it’s about thriving in the face of risk.

• Elizabeth Wu

  Climate Justice Lawyer

  Elizabeth Wu is an international dispute resolution lawyer with over 13 years of experience in transnational corporate accountability, environmental and climate justice, and cross-border dispute resolution. She collaborates with governments, civil society, and the private sector to advance transnational governance initiatives in Asia. A strong advocate for the environmental rule of law, she leads regional judicial convenings on environmental and climate adjudication, promotes corporate accountability for environmental impacts, and develops international economic law frameworks that support sustainable development and climate action.

• Jue Jue Min Thu

  Mental Health Leader

  Jue Jue is a social worker at Queen’s Medical Center, Hawaii, a lecturer at the University of Hawaii, and a Myanmar community leader. Born in Myanmar, she was exiled to Thailand at age 13. A 2016 Master of Social Work graduate from Washington University in St. Louis, she works to expand mental health access in Myanmar through her organization that’s Jue Jue’s Safe Space. • Leo Horn-Phathanothai

  Social Innovation Collaborator

  Leo is a Bangkok-based author, strategist, and ecosystem builder dedicated to accelerating green transitions in Southeast Asia. He drives courageous action that creates equitably shared opportunities in the shift toward a regenerative, post-carbon society. Through his organization, the Just Transitions Incubator, he empowers regional change agents, fosters people-to-people diplomacy, and facilitates collaboration on urgent challenges such as clean air, renewable energy, green finance, and decarbonizing healthcare. • Michaela Friberg-Storey

  United Nations Resident Coordinator in Thailand

  United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has appointed Michaela Friberg-Storey of Sweden as the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Thailand, with the host Government’s approval, starting on 28 September 2024. Ms. Friberg-Storey brings over 25 years of expertise in international humanitarian, development, and peacebuilding. Prior, she served as the United Nations Resident Coordinator in the Republic of Kazakhstan. Before joining the UN, Ms. Friberg-Storey held senior management positions within the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, and she served as Senior Advisor at the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She holds a postgraduate degree in Humanitarian Assistance from Uppsala University and a bachelor’s degree in political science from Stockholm University.

• Poonperm Vardhanabindu

  Climate Finance Innovator

  Poonperm (Ai) Vardhanabindu has over a decade of experience in climate change and sustainable development, advising corporations and shaping national policies. His expertise includes GHG consulting, policy formulation, Sustainable Finance, and carbon pricing. He led the verification of the first International Transfer Mitigation Outcomes (ITMOs) under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement and contributed to designing Thailand’s carbon pricing for its carbon tax. His work also covers carbon storage accounting, Thailand’s first national guideline for Organizational Carbon Footprint, GHG management frameworks, and NDC analysis for UNESCAP member states. • Suthasiny Sudprasert

  Climate Hero Enabler

  Suthasiny Sudprasert (Moh) is Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Happy Ground, a climate-tech company building infrastructure for global supply chain insetting rooted in the Global South. Using biochar as a starting point for farm-level traceability, Happy Ground helps corporations reduce Scope 3 emissions while boosting smallholder farmer incomes and resilience. Moh works with networks of over 70,000 smallholder farmers across rubber, oil palm, sugarcane, and rice, combining regenerative agriculture, carbon removal, and data systems for inclusive climate solutions. • Thanawin Wijitporn

  Urban Designer

  Thanawin Wijitporn (Net) is an architect and urban designer dedicated to fostering architectural, urban, and environmental development through participatory and data-driven processes. As a co-founder of Jai Baan Studio and the Greening up Public Space Association, Thanawin brings over 15 years of experience to his work. His notable projects include Akha Ama Living Factory, Chiang Mai Urban Farm, and Imagine Mae Kha. • Wichayapat Piromsan

  Plant-forward Advocate

  Wichayaphat (Por) is the Thailand Country Director of Madre Brava, an environmental NGO promoting food system reforms for human, animal, and environmental health, with a focus on shifting toward plant-based protein. She began her career as an animal protector, inspired from childhood to question injustice, including why humans eat animals like pigs despite their intelligence and charm. This early activism led her to address broader systemic issues in industrial meat production, which is cruel to animals, environmentally harmful, resource-inefficient, and unfair to farmers.
