TEDxØygarden is the first TEDx event in this fast-growing coastal municipality west of Bergen, Norway. Rooted in a region known for energy, innovation and breathtaking nature, the event brings together bold ideas and diverse voices to explore the future of sustainable communities – locally and globally. The theme for TEDxØygarden 2025 centers around transformation: of industries, ecosystems, technologies, and the stories we tell about who we are and where we're headed. Expect thought-provoking talks, engaging side-events, and a carefully curated program designed to inspire connection, curiosity and action. TEDxØygarden aims to serve as a vibrant meeting point for researchers, entrepreneurs, artists, youth, and community builders, and to share their ideas with the world through the global TED platform.

  • Bobbie Peers

    Filmaker and Author

    Bobbie Peers is a Norwegian filmmaker and author. His short film Sniffer won the Palme d'Or at Cannes in 2006—the first Norwegian film to receive this award. He has directed films for 25 years and written 17 novels, including the bestselling William Wenton series, which has been sold to 38 countries and was chosen by Norwegian children to be cemented into the cornerstone of the National Library in Oslo.

  • Catarina Martins

    Catarina Martins is Chief Sustainability and Technology Officer at Mowi ASA, where she’s leading a blue revolution—reimagining ocean farming through innovation, data, and purpose. With a PhD in Aquaculture, an MBA, and training from Harvard, she bridges science and strategy to build a smarter, more sustainable food system. From AI-powered farms to underwater lasers and big data, Catarina is pioneering the future of seafood—unlocking the ocean’s potential, one cubic metre at a time.

  • Fredrik Schmidt Fotland

    Fredrik Schmidt Fotland is a serial entrepreneur, speaker, and community builder with a passion for circular solutions and real-world sustainability. He is the founder of several initiatives in green technology, soil regeneration, food waste reduction, social entrepreneurship, and local value creation. Based on the west coast of Norway, Fredrik is known for blending depth and humor to make complex topics accessible and engaging.

  • Gjertrud Østervold Toft

    Gjertrud Østervold Toft is a mental performance coach, educator, and entrepreneur. She works at the intersection of psychology, identity, and growth — helping people find strength, clarity, and direction in both life and performance.

  • Gunhild Bødtker

    Gunhild Bødtker is a microbiologist working at NORCE Research in Bergen, Norway. She leads the international research center North Atlantic Microplastic Centre, which focus on holistic knowledge building about microplastics as environmental pollutants, including how humans are exposed and consequences on our health. Gunhild is also a member of the Norwegian scientific committee for Food and Environment, where she contributes with her expertise on microbial ecology.

  • Hedvig Hjertaker

    Hedvig is a Norwegian adventure athlete and specialist dental therapist dedicated to helping people overcome fear, both in the dental chair and in the wild. A former national swimming champion, she later found her passion in pushing mental and physical boundaries through long-distance expeditions and challenging terrain. After recovering from a severe illness at 19 and losing her mother to cancer, Hedvig committed to making life as meaningful and adventurous as possible. Her philosophy is simple: every bold journey begins with a single step, and the courage to take it.

  • Jens Kjeldsen

    Jens E. Kjeldsen is professor of Rhetoric at University of Bergen (Norway) and award-winning speechwriter.

  • Sara Kristine Turøy

    Sara Turøy is a high school student and competitive gymnast from Øygarden, Norway.

  • Sarah Gasda

    Sarah Gasda is Research Director at NORCE, where she leads the Centre for Sustainable Subsurface Resources (CSSR). Her research focuses on computational modelling of CO₂ storage and emerging subsurface technologies that enable the green transition.
