Popular offline talk event TEDx is coming to Belagavi this April. Seven highly renowned personalities that have made their distinct identities in various fields by taking the ‘road less traveled by’ will reveal their success stories through this event. TEDx events are known for the inspiring stories shared by speakers. TEDx Tilakwadi promises to deliver a rich experience to the audience. The list of speakers includes film actor Prakash Belawadi, known for his performances in movies like ‘The Kashmir Files’ and ‘Madras Café’, and social entrepreneur Mrs. Gouree Deshpande Manjarekar who quit her lucrative corporate career and settled in the remote place of Chikkodi to start ‘Pankh Foundation’. The Indian government has appreciated her work by conferring the ‘Indian Women Excellence and leadership award’ in 2019. Hon. Major Dr. Deepak Rao, Commando Trainer will speak about the 'Commando Mindset.' He is regarded as the pioneer of modern-day Close Quarter Battle training, and his encyclopedia on close combat ops is a part of INTERPOL and FBI’s libraries. Mr. Dilip Chandak is a known face in Belgaum. He is the managing director of ‘Vega Helmets’. It is one of the most popular helmet brands in India and has put Belgaum’s name on the global map. This event also features Dr. Prakash Diwan as a speaker who is an expert in pharmaceutical education. He is the founder director of the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research in Hyderabad and the Chairman of the Board of studies in Pharmaceutical sciences, Vignan’s Deemed University, Andhra Pradesh. Another speaker at the event, Dr. Pushkar Shah is a polymath. He holds a Ph.D. in complementary medicine from the UK and Pharmacology from Harvard. He is also a recreational pilot with 1000 plus hours of flying experience and holds a 4th degree black belt in martial arts. Dr. Rajaram Kudli will also be speaking at the event. He has done groundbreaking work in uplifting the so-called unemployable youth from socio-economically, academically challenged strata of society through his unique pro-bono Learning Centre. He is an alumnus and a former visiting faculty at IIT Kharagpur and holds 30 years of experience in Analytic/AI Solutions R&D, Competency Building, Teaching, Research & Consulting. This event will also feature few local artists, who will be performing in between the talks.   • Dr. Prakash Diwan

    Pharmacologist

    The next speaker of Tedx Tilakwadi is Prof. Prakash Diwan. Ph.D., FRSC(London).This trailblazer is an expert in pharmaceutical education and research. He is a Research Director at Central Research Laboratory, M.M Group of Institutions Belgaum. Dr Diwan is a founder Director of Professional Institute (NIPER) Hyderabad. Presently he is member Board of Governor’s at National Dope Testing Laboratory Govt. of India. Consultant Indian Pharmacopeia Commission, New Delhi. He was former President of Indian Pharmacological Society. Dr Diwan has been honoured with many national awards. He has published over 200 research papers and has 17 patents to his credit. He has been a mentor and guide for Doctoral and Master students of Pharmacy. Dr. Diwan has taught pharmacology for Medical, Pharmacy and students. He is an Institute builder in pharmaceutical Sciences. He has been honoured as a fellow from many academies.

  • Dr.Pushkar Shah

    Entrepreneur, Author, Technologist

    Dr. Pushkar Shah is the CEO of a pharmaceutical company and an engineering Consultancy firm. His educational qualifications include an MSc. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Bath, UK, a PhD in complementary medicine also from the UK and Pharmacology from Harvard. He is also a recreational pilot and holds a UK private pilots license." Dr. Pushkar studied martial arts for almost two decades and holds a 4th degree blackbelt. Having extensively studied eastern philosophy and zen in martial arts, he has authored the book "THE ART OF CORPORATE LIFE: War Philosophy for Work and Life."

  • Gouree Manjarekar

    Social Entrepreneur & Founder, Pankh Foundation

    University rank during graduation. A post-graduate degree in computer application. A lucrative job in an IT multinational company. Ms.Gouree Deshpande Manjrekar had everything set to make a succcessful career in the corporate world. However, she realized her calling is in community empowerment. Ten years later, today, she is hailed as one of the most promising and impactful social entrepreneurs from the north Karnataka region. Gauree is the founder of 'The Pankh Foundation' an NGO that empowers rural women by upskilling them. The several women who trained at 'Pankh', achieved self-reliance, and became financially independent are a testament to Gauree's excellent vision and dedication. Her tremendous efforts won her the 'Indian Women Excellence and leadership award 2019'. Pankh Handicrafts' products serve customers locally and globally, including the Indian Embassy in Paris.

  • Hon. Major Dr. Deepak Rao

    Indian Military Trainer, Physician & Author

    Hon. Major Dr. Deepak Rao is a commando trainer and regarded as Indian Forces Pioneer of modern day Close Quarter Battle training. He helped development of modern CQB and reflex shooting for Army commands as early as 2006. He trained 25,000 commandos for 25 years from various forces. After Taj terror, He was made resource for Home Ministry & trained 15 State Police Anti-Terror Units. He was made brand ambassador of Indian Army & TA in 2011 along with MS Dhoni & Ahinav Bindra. Major Deepak Rao has authored the worlds first close combat ops encyclopedia which went into FBI, INTERPOL and SWAT libraries. He is a motivational speaker, a sports medicine physician and specialist in mind studies and Zen. He got the World Peace Award in 2008.

Hailing from a family of theatre artists, Mr. Belawadi has carved his own identity through his pathbreaking body of work in Kannada and English theatre. He has received the Helpmann Award, Australia (2019) for his acting, and his debut film Stumble, which he wrote and directed, won the National Award for Best Film in the English language, 2003.
