Thank you to all who have expressed an interest in attending our event tomorrow.. We are writing to inform you that regrettably we will be postponing this week's event as due to unforeseen circumstances a number of our students would not be able to deliver their talks. We had been preparing for this evening for a long time so we will reschedule for a later date. Ted Talks are a fantastic vehicle for young people to embrace ideas and creativity and for our students to develop into independent thinkers, effective at communicating their views to the world. Once we have reorganised the event we will contact you. We hope to see you then. Once again please accept our apologies; we look forward to seeing you soon.

  • Adeem Younis

    Chairman

    Adeem’s inspired vision, hard work and passion propelled him to become both an industry-leading entrepreneur as well as a multi-award-winning philanthropist, raising over £60 million for good causes, helping generations of impoverished people across the world and here in the UK. Adeem fused his winning digital strategy with his desire to help those less fortunate. In 2009 he founded Penny Appeal, an International Humanitarian Charity which is now works in over 35 countries providing a range life-saving welfare solutions and has been credited as one of the fastest growing charities in the sector. His commitment locally is no less impressive having launched Penny Appeal’s UK programme with a suite of campaigns including feeding the hungry and homeless, domestic violence counselling for women in Yorkshire and West London as well as Penny Appeal’s emergency response unit which recently received much praised for its continued role in the aftermath of the Grenfell Tower Fire crisis.

  • Kwame Boateng

    Social Entrepreneur

    Kwame works as a professional speaker, giving students an insight into the humanitarian field and humanitarian approaches to work. He has worked with a number of organisations across the U.K, Ghana and South Africa on a range of issues including community development and criminal justice reform. He also runs a small production company that creates media and events to highlight the lives of marginalised communities and is currently training to be a barrister on a scholarship from Gray's Inn.

  • Shakira Rahman

    Child CEO aka Kidboss

    Shakira is 11 years old and is from Walthamstow London. The charity Penny Appeal are celebrating their 10 year anniversary and part of the celebration they decided to take on a 10 year old to join them, and appointed Shakira as CEO. Shakira’s (aka Kid Boss, as Penny Appeal call her) involvement will involve her going to visit some of Penny Appeal’s projects, so that she can learn more about the charity itself. She aims give vital input on what she has observed through the eyes of a young child to the board. Shakira will be working on projects helping resolve issues which affect many children in the UK daily including homelessness, bullying and even the consequences and effects of seeing or hearing domestic violence in the family household. Shakira Rahman says: “A lot of kids don’t have a voice, and it’s my job to make sure they get heard. Because we are the future of this country; of this world… now we just have to make grown-ups understand that!”.
