• Anand Chulani

  LEADERSHIP THROUGH LAUGHTER – Anand will share how he went from being laughed at and voted “least likely to succeed at the age of 12″ to making audiences laugh around the world. About Anand Chulani: After writing for hit shows on BBC and FOX like Goodness Gracious Me and the Simpsons and becoming the “first Indian to write for an American sitcom”, creating TV shows for the Disney Channel and touring with Russell Peters as one of the “Gurus of Comedy”, international speaker & leadership & laughter coach and ‘one of the top 10 comedians in India” (according to the Times of India), Anand Chulani created LOL Method, which uses fun and play to educate and empower the leaders of today (Fortune 500 companies) and the leaders of tomorrow (children) to become Leaders of Laughter – confident and successful leaders in their schools, corporations, homes and communities. Through the LOL Method, Anand has had the honor of turning around kids in gangs in LA, Palestinian and Israeli Youth, youth with addictions, youth being influenced by peer pressure, bullied kids as well as children with low self-esteem, stress due to academic pressure, depression and suicidal tendencies. He is internationally recognized as one of the top experts in youth behavior and strategic intervention and was recently hired by the UK government to handle the youth post-riots in London and to devise strategies for treating the cause and not just the symptoms of these incidents.

• Krushnaa Patil

  Climbed Mt.Everest in May 2009 becoming the youngest girl from India to do so. Followed that up with the 7 summits, the highest in every continent. Kilimanjaro highest in Africa in October 2009, Mt.Vinson Massif highest in Antarctica in December 2009 , Mt.Aconcagua highest in South America in Jan 2010, Mt.Kosciousko in March 20010Mt, Elbrus highest in Europe in April 2010, first indian woman on the highest in Antarctica, South America and Europe. Also climbed Mt. Satopanth 7075 mtrs in the Garhwal Himalayas in September 2009, becoming youngest person in the world to climb it at 18yrs.

• Ashok Rathod

  Ashok Rathod is the Founder and Director of OSCAR Foundation, an organization which aims to prevent school drop-outs and encourage children to become responsible citizens. Using the medium of football, Ashok, when he was 18 years old, began encouraging children in his community to complete their education, discover meaningful vocations for themselves and quit unhealthy habits. Till today, he has reached out to more than 200 children in his community. He has also been invited across India to train other organizations on using the medium of sports for development, through that training he has reached out more than 1000 children and youth. In September, 2011 Ashok went London to attend Football against HIV/AIDS, and also he is going to Hong Kong as guess speaker for Youth Social Entrepreneur conference. In 2010 Indonesia’s Ashoka Foundation invited Ashok as a trainer and guest speaker for Asia Youth Social Entrepreneur Summit. For his work he has been recognized and honored at various youth platforms – nationally and internationally. He won the Real Hero Award from CNN IBN in 2009. He is also been supported by Ashoka’s Youth Venture,Unlimited India, Change Looms, Generation for Peace and Oxfam Australia’s.

• Jodie Underhill

  Jodie Underhill, more popularly known as ‘Garbage girl’ was born in 1976 in Great Yarmouth, England. She first came to India in 2008 and was saddened by the amount of garbage and lack of civic pride everywhere. In April 2009 she began a weekly waste collection from Triund, mountain camp, a four hour hike from McLeod Ganj, Dharamsala. This was the start of Mountain Cleaners, a voluntary organisation and now a registered trust committed to cleaning up India, little by little through a combination of direct action, liaison and awareness-raising. Jodie is responsible for setting up, co-ordinating and managing all the projects including waste management, community activities, fundraising and education programs. She also recruits and co-ordinates the volunteers.

• Anand Shah

  The “P” Word – We are optimistic about tomorrow because we believe, more than ever, in our power to determine our future. To get there, we need to grapple with an issue with we often have a love-hate relationship: Politics. Anand is, at heart, a social entrepreneur. Anand co-founded Sarvajal – a cleantech venture focussed on providing clean water to rural India. Anand has incubated various impact-focused business model innovations in his role as the CEO of Piramal Foundation. He is a technology enthusiast and has also been instrumental in setting up several start-ups across the technology and social domains. He helped establish “Teach For India,” and has been involved over time in various thought-leadership programs around the world including the tt30 (a young think tank of the Club of Rome), served on the international board of KaosPilots (a European school of creative business design and social innovation), and is a member of the Aspen Institute’s inaugural India Leadership Initiative. After graduating from Harvard College in 1999, Anand setup the India side of Indicorps, a fellowship program encouraged young Indians around the world to spend a year serving India

• Gaurav Mishra

  Asia Director of Social Media at MSLGROUP Asia Gaurav Mishra helps global brands benefit from the intersection of social-media-gaming-design-technology and social-good-change-innovation-activism. Gaurav advises several non-profits and startups formally or informally, both on the product and the strategy side. In his previous avatars, he studied at IIM Bangalore, held senior marketing roles at the Tata Group, taught social media at Georgetown University as the 2008-09 Yahoo! Fellow, launched election monitoring platform Vote Report India and co-founded social media agency 2020 Social.

  Aangan Trust works on strengthening protection mechanisms for the most vulnerable child in need, both in state run institutions and in the community. Meet 10 of Aangan’s incredible youths and learn how they try to make their dreams come true though struggling with deprivation, discrimination, abuse.

• Para Vayu

  PARA VAYU is a progressive rock band from Mumbai with a unique sound that spans a wide range of genres including classic rock, alternative, progressive, blues, funk, jazz and Indian classical. Music being free from boundaries, thought or judgement, Para Vayu’s music packs a raw energy that is infectious and spontaneous. Taking an ‘open’ approach to music, Para Vayu is known for effecting collaboration and chemistry across cultures, styles and ideas. Through their music and their recent album “Soul Alive” Para Vayu has earned fame and respect as one of the most experimental bands in India. Rooted firmly in a culture of “FOREVER PLAY” that underlies all of their unbounded and path-breaking musical creativity, Para Vayu will showcase an exclusive set from Soul Alive – their debut album – with Tabla maestro Rupak Dhamankar marking an eclectic mix of east meets west. At TedxYouth@Masala, Para Vayu wants everybody to be inspired to be the BIG change, by embracing a culture of experimentation and stretching conventional boundaries.

• Dhanya Pilo

  Dhanya Pilo aka. VJ DECOY, is a Mumbai based Film Designer & visual artist. Her work is in the sphere of bringing together art, design & technology so as to manifest them into new forms of communication for the unsuspecting audience. While Visual Jockeying – Dhanya uses her film making, photography & digital skills to blend, superimpose and trigger various video sequences onto projection screens/surfaces so as to create live – visually enticing streams – thus adding color, life, movement, & dimension to the aural experience created by various Musicians. Dhanya has collaborated with various musicians/ bands/sound artists from India, France, Germany, America, Switzerland,Thailand & Russia in the past. TEDxYouth@Masala will feature a combined collaborative piece, titled PLAY – with live visuals by Dhanya Pilo (VJ Decoy) supported by live music/coding by (Soumitra Bhat)’. The act of Play is something they feel young people are giving up too early in this zeitgeist – by growing up so fast! As a reminder to youth to take part in and to be a sport in not just work/education but to things happening around them. To challenge boundaries and constraints and strive to create luminal spaces full of un-ending possibilities. Dhanya and Soumitra will share an 18 min audio visual jugal bandi with the audience showcasing how much a live visual artist/performer can interpret the music that is being played as well as how much “play” is possible within the range of particular set of tools/ gadgets for a complete aural+visual experience.”
