TEDxArkitects' guest speakers explore these questions by revealing different approaches to sustainability, ranging from Biodigital systems and natural building techniques to educating children and engaging poor communities. The breadth of scope demonstrates the complexity of integral sustainability and offers ideas for the conservation of our planet through the practice of architecture.

  • Dennis Dollens

    Designer based in Santa Fe, New Mexico and Barcelona, Spain where he teaches in the Genetic Architectures and BioDigital Master Programs at ESARQ, UIC, Elisava and Universitat Pompeu Fabra. By translating the organic and regenerative processes of the natural world to building, Dollens approaches Biomimetic Architecture through the development of software to digitally grow structure, space, surface and components.

  • Giovanna Carnevali

    The prestigious NGO led by Cameron Sinclair and know the world over for their humanitarian work has branched out to comprise more than 80 chapters in different cities around the globe. Founded this year and directed by Giovanna Carnevali, AFH Spain is here in Barcelona where they develop local projects that aim at solving social conflicts and building more sustainable communities through architecture.

  • ¿What is Architecture?

    quees_ Founded by theatrical artist Jorge Raedó and filmmaker and architect Eva Serrats, this group makes architecture accessible to children and awakens their curiosity about space and urban design through videos and workshops. Education being one of the pillars of sustainability, ¿What is Architecture? reveals a wealth of creative, playful and imaginative strategies that underscores the importance of educating our future generations in promoting a more harmonic and responsibly built environment.

  • Sergio Palleroni

    As one of the pioneers of ecological architecture, Palleroni has been quietly leading the revolution towards a more social and environmentally conscious way of building. He is an architect, professor, and fellow at the Center for Sustainable Practices and Processes at Portland State University, visiting professor and research scientist at the University of Texas and the cofounder of BaSiC Initiave. With projects that range from urban eco-corridors in Taiwan to an elementary school in Ladakh, his experience highlights the importance of an integral approach to architecture.
