Advances in bionics have made it possible for prosthetic arms to respond to natural muscle signals, allowing intuitive movement and even the sense of touch. In one striking example, a patient was able to feel his missing hand through his chest after targeted muscle reinnervation surgery. These innovations mean people with amputations can control their robotic limbs just by thinking, regaining both function and emotional connection.
