지속가능성이라는 말이 유행어가 되기 훨씬 이전에 건축가 시게루 반씨는 이미 생태학적인 건물 소재인 마분지관와 종이로 실험을 시작하고 있었다. 그의 주목할 만한 건축물들은 임시 주거지를 위해 만든 것들이고 아이티, 르완다 또는 일본과 같이 자연 재해로 모든 것을 잃은 사람들을 돕기 위해 설계되었다. 그렇지만 종종 그 건물들은 목적을 다한 뒤에도 사랑받는 건물들로 남아있다. (TEDxTokyo에서 촬영)
