Aggressive, drug-resistant cancers can outsmart even the most advanced treatments by using genetic mutations to survive. A new approach uses molecular engineering to create nanoparticles, one one-hundredth the width of a human hair, designed to slip past the body’s defenses and attack tumors from within. In animal trials with triple-negative breast cancer, these nanoparticles not only halted tumor growth but even caused tumors to shrink or disappear.
