Architecture holds the power to heal, not just to shelter or inspire. In Rwanda, a thoughtfully designed hospital cut infection rates using simple airflow and community-built stone walls, while the act of building itself helped repair social wounds after genocide. Projects in Haiti, Malawi, and the United States show how buildings can address epidemics, revitalize cities, and honor difficult histories. By focusing on local materials, labor, and the dignity of those who build and use them, buildings can become engines of hope and transformation.
