エレノア・ロングデンは、何処から見ても他の学生とはなんら変わらなく、何の心配もないかの様に、軽い足取りで大学に通っていていました。しかし、それも彼女の頭の中で、声が聞こえ出すまでの事でした。最初、無害だった”声”は、次第に敵対し、命令口調になって行き、悪夢の毎日となって行きます。統合失調症と診断され、薬漬けとなり、治療法が見つからないまま放棄されます。ロングデンは、その”声”に耳を傾ける事で回復した長い道のりを、私たちに語ります。
