Many people lose their sense of creativity after a single harsh comment or discouraging experience, often as early as childhood. Fear of judgment causes even successful adults to avoid creative challenges, believing they simply lack the creative gene. Yet evidence shows that, through guided mastery—step-by-step exposure and small wins—anyone can reawaken creative abilities. For example, redesigning a frightening MRI experience for children transformed both patient outcomes and the designer’s sense of purpose.
