Out of the more than 70 million displaced people worldwide, only three percent have access to higher education. The Global Education Movement (GEM) is on a mission to change that with the first large-scale initiative of its kind to help refugee learners get bachelor's degrees and create pathways toward employment. Only three percent of the world’s 70 million displaced people have access to higher education, leaving dreams unfulfilled. A pioneering program now delivers competency-based bachelor’s degrees to refugees across five countries, removing barriers like classrooms and rigid schedules. Students control their learning pace, gain real-world skills, and receive wraparound support, from academic coaching to psychosocial care. This student-centered approach sparks confidence and unlocks new paths to employment and community leadership.
