낙태는 아주 흔합니다. 예를 들면, 미국에서는 여성 3명 중 1명이 일생에서 낙태를 하지만 그 주제는 강한 감정을 일으키고, 그에 대해 아주 정치적인 표현이 있고, 사려깊고 열린 토론을 할 여지가 거의 없습니다. 아스펜 베이커는 "낙태 반대"도 아니고 "낙태 찬성"도 아닌 "지지하는 목소리"를 얘기하면서 어려운 주제를 얘기할 때 듣기와 말하기의 역할에 대해 설명합니다.
