과학자 앤디 옌은, 이메일을 보내는 것은 그 내용을 타인이 읽을 수 있다는 점에서 엽서를 보내는 것과 같다고 하는, 생각해볼 만한 이야기를 들려줍니다. 이메일의 프라이버시를 보호하는 암호화 기술이 있기는 하지만, 아직은 설치하기도 어렵고 사용하기에 번거롭습니다. 옌은 CERN에서 동료들과 함께 고안한 이메일 프로그램을 시연하면서, 암호화를 기본으로 선택할 만큼 간단하게 만듦으로써 진정한 이메일 프라이버시를 모두에게 제공해야 한다고 말합니다.
