Bio

Currently I’m working on strategic philanthropy projects and integrating AI tools in our efforts to accelerate, achieve and scale impact. I’ve built tech solutions for nonprofits & philanthropies, and supported and led teams and events to create optimal experiences and results. I've built digital tools and resources for the nonprofit sector and produce community media. I work with organization teams and communities by supporting immersive knowledge sharing and project management through conversations, cultivated communities, and collaboration facilitation and leadership. I initiated the TEDx Organizers Global Gatherings, held in 2013 & 2014. I've been a TEDx workshop leader and mentor, and organized large and small scale events including TEDxRainier (now TEDxSeattle), TEDxSeattleLive and Salon events, Studio videos, TEDxSnoIsleLibraries, and now TEDxOrcasIslande. For TED2014, I was on staff at TED as community experience producer. I’ve helped organize the nonprofit sector in the Northwest US by publishing a weekly listing of nonprofit jobs and by writing a guide to working and volunteering in the nonprofit sector. I hold an MA in Literature, focusing on world literature written in English, and wrote a thesis that developed the idea of Extraculturality, which explores the effects and consequences of being outside one's familiar cultural context.

I'm passionate about

Getting philanthropic projects from strategy to results, growing people and capabilities along the way. I love open minded curiosity, social technology tools, developing nonprofit tech solutions, being outdoors, hiking, kayaking and having great conversations.

An idea worth spreading

How we go from idea to strategy and action is key to what we accomplish, with AI assistance and as groups and teams.

The TED story

I met TEDster Siegfried Woldhek at a tech for nonprofits conference. A year later, while living in Martinique, I went to TEDGlobal 2009. I then spoke at TEDxAnchorage and TEDxTamaya and began attending TEDx events and returning to TEDGlobal. I've now organized TEDxRainier in Seattle, producing in 2010 and curating since 2011.
