Bio

Pete Stavros is Co-Head of Global Private Equity at KKR and Founder & Chairman of Ownership Works. Ownership Works is a first-of-its-kind nonprofit organization focused on expanding the adoption of broad-based employee ownership programs across corporate America with a goal of creating $20 billion of wealth for working families within the next decade. Pete’s interest in broad-based employee ownership began with his Dad, who was an hourly construction worker in Chicago for more than 40 years. Despite his long hours over many years, Pete’s Dad never participated in the success of his company beyond an hourly wage. As a result, he never felt a sense of ownership or alignment, and enjoyed few options for mobility or wealth creation. The mission of Ownership Works is to create such wealth building opportunities for working families and, in the process, reinvigorate corporate cultures and improve business performance. At KKR, Pete oversees one of the largest private equity investing platforms in the world covering $165 billion of assets across Europe, Asia, and the Americas and covers large cap, mid-cap, impact, core, and growth equity investing across 10 different investment funds. He is a member of several of KKR’s investment and management committees, and previously served as Co-Chair of the firm’s global Inclusion and Diversity Council.

An idea worth spreading

Broad-based employee ownership can create meaningful wealth-building opportunities for employees, uplift families, reinvigorate corporate cultures, and improve business performance. Providing all employees with a stake in the value they help create is not just better business and smarter investing, it’s also the right thing to do.
