Bio

Shaun Arora believes that all businesses can be built in a more resource-efficient manner. He manifests this belief in C-level roles, coaching engagements, and advisory positions for a handful of startups -- Beltways, Cloud of Goods, DASH Shipping, PathSpot, and Amogy. Prior to being a fractional COO, Shaun was a founding partner at MiLA Capital, a Venture Capital firm that seeded hard tech companies such as Emerge, Feel, and Caban, and was the cofounder of the Make in LA accelerator and Toolbox LA innovation lab. He earned his operational stripes while scaling NEO Tech (a global contract manufacturer) from 20MM to 800MM in revenue in under 10 years, and in the process received Inc 5000's award for fastest-growing companies, Raytheon’s 5 Star Supplier Award for delivery and quality, and Boeing’s Performance Excellence Award. Shaun is known for his ability to see creative solutions and move multiple objectives in parallel and has helped thousands of founders, builders, and executives break through their roadblocks.

I'm passionate about

At work sometimes people often get stuck and are not sure what to do next. I either help them find the answer on their own (as a coach) or answer it for them (as a CxO). I enjoy working with emerging technology founders who see the world differently. And I can use my “jack of all trades” mindset and Asperger superpower to have a tiny role in helping them see their reality through. I’ve always had a curiosity around people and systems. In my heart, I am a scientist. I am studying the world trying to explain it to myself, tugging at potential patterns that become hypotheses I test. It’s been rewarding to be in the room when lightbulb moments happen. Ideally, through my work, I can uncover something that will impact many teams, even those I never meet

An idea worth spreading

How can we incentivize non-consumption? What are alternatives to living with a calendar?

The TED story

I see a lot of the world's challenges linked to consumer discretionary spending and I am looking for likeminded souls who want to change that.

Things you might not know

I am relentlessly lazy. I am often striving to find shortcuts and hacks to keep moving my many projects forward. I also see things from first principles and ask a lot of questions. I am not shy to ask the dumb (courageous) questions. It makes me great at playing the devil's advocate, the most challenging user, or the mediator uncovering wins in a difficult negotiation.
