Human life hinges on the survival of pollinators. There are approximately 200,000 species of pollinators working hard every day, pollinating vegetation worldwide. 10% of those are bees. And honeybees are just one of those species. The industrious little honeybee is an indicator species; honeybees are telling us how the ecosystem is doing. Are we listening? We scientists have known for over a decade that bee health is rapidly declining in industrialized countries. Last year was the worst to date in the US; 62% of beehives didn’t survive the winter, and as NPR reported, there’s no solution in the pipeline. I’m a scientist with research partnerships at MIT, Harvard, Stanford, NASA, and National Geographic. I’m the Founder of The Biodiversity Lab, a global environmental consulting firm for developers that increases biodiversity across portfolio sites using Biodiversity Blueprint™️ technology that I invented.
