With a background in Mass Communications and Media Studies, a member of the African Council for Communication Education, The Rural Sociological Association of Nigeria and the Association of Communication Scholars and Practitioners, Suleiman Muhammad Murkthar is the curator/organizer of TEDxAhmaduBelloUniversity, a research and communication officer with the Directorate of University Advancement Ahmadu Bello University and also the Director of the Centre for Development and Advance Learning (CENDAL), an NGO poised to providing applicable knowledge to students and mentoring them on how they can best through their careers solve one or more of the sustainable development goals. He was also a Project Facilitator with the ENACTUS ABU team.
Suleiman has always had a passion for social advocacy and exacting change in practical solution oriented areas.
Suleiman Murkthar as a graduate student of communication had served as the Managing Editor of the Campus Herald Newspaper a bi-monthly newspaper publication for the school management, he had also worked on the weekday Good Morning samaru show as a presenter on the school's radio station, and also worked with COOLFM Abuja and The Delta Broadcasting Service in Warri.
Over the past few years he has been conferred best writer of the year 2016 by the Mass Communication Department, First Position in the Fund Raising Proposal submission by the University Advancement Unit, and quite recently was voted as Most Influential student of the year 2018.
Murkthar also runs a mentorship program for students of Ahmadu Bello University and has also given talks on different platforms such as, the Bridge platform, personal development Fridays and with the OKVC team at the NNPC twin towers.
Murkthar is also a researcher with publications on peer reviewed journals in media studies published by different Universities across Africa. He has also been privilege to speak at academic conferences on mass media and conflict and other sub-disciplines.
