Bio

Jamie Drummond Global Strategist & Founder - Sharing Strategies Executive Director and Global Strategy - ONE Jamie Drummond was the Global Strategist for Drop the Debt /Jubilee 2000 then co-founded DATA with Bono, Bobby Shriver and others in 2002 and co-founded ONE with others in 2004. ONE’s mission is to beat extreme poverty and disease and partner with the world countries especially in Africa achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. DATA, ONE and partners have helped persuade the Bush Administration and bipartisan leadership in the US congress, with others, to launch a series of initiatives with Africa including the Millennium Challenge Account, the Presidents Emergency AIDS initiative, the Malaria Initiative, Multilateral Debt Relief and the African Growth and Opportunity Act. Jamie helped negotiate and advocate for a new high watermark of promises at the 2005 Summit, involving a doubling of aid promised for Africa by 2010, including improvements in aid quality. ONE and before it DATA, place great value on aid efficiency and the kinds of aid which empower the poor –and help them hold governments accountable and assist their fight against corruption and poverty. A strategy is deployed which mixes advocacy with government leadership with grassroots movement building and leveraging major industrialized nations around multilateral moments such as the G7, African and UN meetings. Jamie was formerly global strategist for Jubilee 2000 "drop the debt", and prior to that worked at Christian Aid. He has traveled widely in Africa and Asia and has an MA in Development from the London School of Oriental and African Studies. In 2007 Jamie was elected a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum and in 2005 ONE received the TED prize.
