Rhonda Carter

Rhonda Carter was born in Seoul, South Korea and was raised by an immigrant, single mother in L.A. and then a suburb of Seattle. She loves to make her normally stoic mom laugh. She is also a fun-loving baby sister and aunt, an imperfect and grateful partner, and a learning but pretty kickass mama (so far). She also loves to connect and help people. She is currently the Chief of Staff at Sound Transit, which is headquartered In Seattle and is the regional transit provider in the Central Puget Sound area. She’s finally having fun figuring out what the role actually means, and will report back when she figures it out. Before that, Rhonda worked for the Obama Administration for 7 1/2 years. Her tenure included stints in the White House, the U.S. Department of Energy, and the U.S. Department of Transportation. From that time, she is most proud about having an inkling of a semblance of a role in the nomination and confirmation of Justice Sonia Sotomayor and will talk about it until her dying breath. She began her career with a couple of public sector roles, one in higher ed and one in non-profit, before going full-on government. Rhonda lives in South Seattle and serves as a Commissioner on the Seattle Women’s Commission. She is perpetually tired alongside her patient and brilliant husband, Decker, and their funny, smart, and surprisingly strong (like, Bam-Bam strong, y’all) two-year-old daughter, Neale.
