Bio
Liz Hodge Alverson is an internationally recognized award-winning storyteller, director, producer, and writer showcasing people and animals beating impossible odds to survive. Her documentaries have been featured on the Discovery Channel, the Australian Broadcasting Corp., and at Cannes, Asia TV Forum, World Screen, and Reel Screen. Liz has received 9 Emmy® nominations for her television work and is the winner of 7 Telly Awards for her work as a Director/Producer.
A member of the National Press Club and National Academy of
Television Arts and Sciences, Liz’s documentaries have included stories of rescuing pet dogs from brain cancer, reversing paralysis in people after devastating spinal cord injury, and saving baby elephants from deadly herpes virus infections. She’s directed and produced stories with Robert David Hall, double-amputee and acclaimed actor from CBS’s Crime Science Investigation, and Pat Summitt, former head coach of the Tennessee Lady Vols to highlight her battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Liz hosted a daily podcast on medical breakthroughs that aired on more than 3,500 radio stations. She has been featured in the Los Angeles Times, ABC News, NBC News, the Chicago Tribune, and LA Weekly, and on numerous local TV affiliates and radio stations.
A passionate activist, Liz’s career spans nonprofit organizations and
associations across the U.S. and Europe. She defended the ethical use of animals for life-saving medical research at the Foundation for
Biomedical Research in Washington, D.C., and trained scientists at the National Institutes of Health for animal rights crisis scenarios.
Currently at the Angiogenesis Foundation, Liz is leading media storytelling about game-changing cancer therapies and incredible treatments reversing blindness that are opening new frontiers in human health.
As a side project, Liz worked for the Scottish Parliament as a
speechwriter, and she runs the Marine Corps Marathon. She divides her time between Washington, D.C., and Boston, MA.
