About Alicia

I am a…

Agnostic, Event planner, Performer, Single, Student

I'm passionate about

Education. I live for learning in any capacity about anything. Used bookstore? I'm in the stacks with an armful of sometimes sticky, sometimes dusty, but always bargain-priced books. Ethics lecture? I'm the youngest person in the room, trying to take in all I can about stem cells. My birthday? I've already highlighted all of the UCLA lectures I would love to sit in on. Author talk? I'm standing in line waiting for an autograph. AP classes? I'm sitting in the front row smiling like a dork. All in all, I hope to be a life long student. I am so grateful that my parents have instilled in me the skills to do so - an adoration for books from my mom and a sense of curiosity from my dad.

An idea worth spreading

Being content with oneself. As a teenager, I'm going through that whole "discovering yourself" phase, and a big focus for me has been learning to be comfortable on my own. It's important to feel confident in who you are and to be happy spending time with yourself (and a good book). Now, I just need to learn how to balance comfortable solitude with healthy relationships.

The TED story

I am currently a Lead Organizer hopeful for the next TEDxRBHigh. I had the opportunity to help with its organization and execution last year, and I would love to take the lead for the coming year. I also love attending other events like TEDxUCLA! Plus, who doesn’t like to binge TED talks on a Friday night?
