Bio
Josh Stein is a partner at DFJ, where his current board responsibilities include Box (NYSE: BOX), Chartbeat, LaunchDarkly, LendKey, Loftium, Lumity, Periscope, SugarCRM, and Talkdesk. He is also actively involved with the firm's investments in AngelList, Doximity, Front, Redfin, Rippling, Tremor Video (NYSE: TRMR), and Twilio (NYSE: TWLO).
Prior to joining DFJ, Josh was a co-founder, director, and the chief strategy officer for ViaFone (NYSE: SY), a DFJ portfolio company and a leading provider of wireless enterprise applications. Josh met the DFJ team when the firm co-led ViaFone's Series A investment.
Josh holds a BA from Dartmouth College, an MBA from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business, and is a graduate of the Kauffman Fellows Program. He currently serves on the board of trustees of the Crystal Springs Uplands School and the Stanford GSB Trust. Previously, he served on the board of directors of the Center for Venture Education and the Kauffman Fellows Program, the leading educational fellowship in venture capital.
In 2013, 2014, and 2015, Forbes ranked Josh in their annual Midas List of top technology investors. The New York Times / CB Insights also recognized Josh as a top VC investor in 2016 and 2017. He has been selected by the AlwaysOn Network as a "Power Player" in Digital Entertainment, Cloud Computing, and Champions of Entrepreneurship. In 2015, Josh was selected by Deloitte as the Venture Capitalist of the Year.
