Bio

Laura Dunn has dedicated her life to seeking truth and justice. As a nationally recognized civil rights attorney, she has fearlessly stood for the victimized and marginalized against powerful institutions. To protect our democracy, Dunn is running for Congress in NY-12. Dunn will stand for our city and for our nation by demanding government integrity through congressional term limits, ending insider trading by government officials, and advancing ethical standards for the U.S. Supreme Court. She will stop the rollback of rights while advancing a Constitutional right to privacy, protecting personal data, reproductive rights, and marriage equality. She will also protect children, artists, and workers through AI regulation while ensuring better funding for small businesses. Since economic security is a core part of social justice, Dunn will tackle the affordability crisis in NY-12 by ensuring Social Security matches inflation, healthcare costs are reduced, and housing is built for seniors, artists, and lower-income residents in our community. Laura has gotten the job done before in Washington. She has contributed to landmark legislation, developed federal rules, advised a White House Task Force, debated senators live on C-Span, and worked for the Chair of the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee. For her groundbreaking advocacy, Dunn has received several awards and recognitions, including the 2017 U.S. Department of Justice Special Courage Award, the 2017 AAUW Eleanor Roosevelt Fund Award, and a 2018 TED Fellowship, among other awards and recognitions. Dunn is ready to bring her effective leadership to Congress.
