Bio
Born and raised with a passion for education and language, my journey began with a solid foundation at the American University of Beirut, where I earned my BA in Social Behavioral Sciences. Following this, I pursued a Teaching Diploma, driven by a fervent desire to impart knowledge and foster a love for learning. Embarking on a career path dedicated to teaching Arabic language, I spent an enriching 26 years guiding students from elementary to secondary school levels. Central to my pedagogical philosophy is the belief that language serves as the bedrock of personality formation. With this conviction in mind, I endeavored to cultivate within my students a profound appreciation for their native tongue, instilling in them a sense of pride in their linguistic heritage. I firmly believe that one’s language is intricately intertwined with their identity, shaping not only how they communicate but also how they perceive themselves and the world around them. To this end, I employed innovative and out-of-the-box teaching methods, incorporating elements of drama and engaging activities to make the learning process both enjoyable and effective. By infusing creativity into the classroom, I aimed to captivate my students’ interest and foster a deep-seated connection to the Arabic language.
In addition to my role as a dedicated educator, I have also had the privilege of serving as an International Baccalaureate workshop leader for the past decade. In this capacity, I have had the opportunity to share my expertise and insights with fellow educators, guiding them in implementing best practices and strategies within the IB curriculum framework. Through conducting workshops and facilitating collaborative learning experiences, I have sought to empower teachers to embrace innovative approaches to instruction and curriculum design, ultimately enhancing the quality of education for students worldwide. My tenure as an IB workshop leader has been marked by a commitment to excellence and a dedication to lifelong learning, as I continue to refine my skills and stay abreast of the latest developments in education.
Throughout my career, I have been driven by a profound passion for education and a steadfast belief in the transformative power of language. Whether in the classroom or in a workshop setting, my goal remains the same: to inspire and empower individuals to unlock their full potential through the power of education. As I reflect on my journey thus far, I am filled with gratitude for the countless students and colleagues who have enriched my life and contributed to my growth as an educator. Looking ahead, I am excited to continue making a positive impact in the field of education, shaping the minds and hearts of future generations one lesson at a time.
An idea worth spreading
In today’s rapidly evolving world, the notion that kindness is the key to a better world resonates more deeply than ever before. As we navigate the complexities of modern life, it becomes increasingly clear that kindness is not just a virtue but a necessity for our collective well-being. From environmental challenges to social injustices, humanity grapples with a myriad of issues that stem from a lack of compassion and empathy. It is evident that at the core of many of these problems lies a fundamental deficit of kindness.
Kindness, often described as the essence of our humanity, is a quality that must be nurtured and cultivated from a young age. It is through acts of kindness that we foster a sense of connection and solidarity with one another, transcending barriers of race, religion, and nationality. Whether it’s lending a helping hand to a neighbor in need or extending a word of encouragement to a stranger, each act of kindness has the power to ripple outward, creating a ripple effect of positivity and goodwill.
In a world plagued by division and discord, kindness serves as a beacon of hope, offering a path towards reconciliation and healing. It is through acts of kindness that we bridge the gap between individuals and communities, forging bonds of trust and understanding. By cultivating a culture of kindness, we create a more inclusive and compassionate society, where everyone feels valued and respected.
Moreover, kindness is not just a moral imperative but also a practical solution to many of the challenges we face. In the realm of environmental conservation, for example, acts of kindness towards the planet – such as reducing our carbon footprint or advocating for sustainable practices – can have a profound impact on the health of our ecosystems. Similarly, in the realm of social justice, acts of kindness towards marginalized communities – such as speaking out against discrimination or advocating for equal rights – can help dismantle systems of oppression and inequality.
As we move forward in our lives, it is imperative that we prioritize kindness as a guiding principle. Whether it’s in our interactions with others or in our approach to solving global challenges, kindness must remain at the forefront of our actions. By embracing kindness as a way of life, we not only enhance our own well-being but also contribute to the creation of a more just, equitable, and sustainable world for future generations. As the saying goes, “In a world where you can be anything, be kind.” Indeed, kindness is the way to a better world, and it is up to each and every one of us to embody this transformative ideal.

The TED story
In 2016, my journey with TEDx began as a co-organizer alongside a close friend. It was a personal initiative driven by our shared passion for education and innovation. Together, we embarked on the ambitious endeavor of bringing TEDx to our school, with a unique focus on elementary students. Despite the initial challenges, the outcome surpassed our wildest expectations. Witnessing the immense growth and development of the students was truly inspiring. Their engagement with the TEDx platform not only enhanced their public speaking skills but also fostered a sense of curiosity and confidence that would shape their academic journey and beyond.
One of the most rewarding aspects of the experience was the exceptional collaboration within the organizing team. Each member brought their own unique strengths and perspectives to the table, resulting in a synergy that propelled us forward. The sense of camaraderie and support among us created a truly remarkable atmosphere, akin to that of a close-knit family. Together, we navigated the complexities of event planning and execution, overcoming obstacles with resilience and teamwork.
Buoyed by the success of our inaugural TEDx event, I embarked on the next step of my TEDx journey by attending the TED Festival in New York. It was a transformative experience that fueled my passion and solidified my commitment to the TEDx mission. Armed with newfound knowledge and inspiration, I seized the opportunity to become a licensee, paving the way for the organization of a larger-scale TEDx event at our school. With over 100 attendees, the event served as a platform for ideas worth spreading, bringing together students, educators, and community members alike.
Since then, my involvement with TEDx has been a whirlwind of growth and learning for every member of the team. Each event presents new challenges and opportunities for innovation, pushing us to constantly evolve and adapt. From curating thought-provoking speakers to refining our event logistics, every aspect of the process has been a lesson in creativity and collaboration. As we strive to create memorable and impactful experiences for our audience, we remain steadfast in our dedication to fostering a culture of curiosity, empathy, and lifelong learning.
Looking back on my TEDx journey, I am filled with gratitude for the countless moments of inspiration and connection it has afforded me. From the thrill of seeing a student deliver their first TEDx talk to the profound discussions sparked by our events, each experience has left an indelible mark on my heart. As I continue to embark on this journey of exploration and discovery, I am excited to see where the path may lead and the new horizons it may reveal. TEDx has not only enriched my life but has also empowered me to be a catalyst for change in my community and beyond.
