Jeffrey (Jay) Horne is a self-made entrepreneur who has had the opportunity and privilege to work in many diverse settings gaining exposure to and experience in a variety of fields. Prior to getting his B.A. in Communications and Theater from Temple University, Jay worked as a Production Assistant with the Children's Television Workshop mainly doing time coding, conducting research, reading scripts, and meeting with translators for the Arabic language educational television program "Al Manaahil". While studying at Temple University, Jay worked as an intern at the WKYW newsroom as part of the sports department occasionally shooting footage and assisted the camera crew with both sound and video. He continued to hone his photographic and videographic skills during his summer work as an Assistant Fashion Photographer for the Strawbridge and Clothier department store chain. After graduating with his degree in Communications and Theatre in 1994, Mr. Horne spent 10 years working freelance in positions ranging from Location Scout to Location Manager on various movies including but not limited to Robert Dinero's "A Bronx Tale", Spike Lee's "Malcom X", and Martin Scorcesse's "Age of Innocence". After this time, he was given the distinct honor of being placed on the Director's Guild of America's New York Commercial Qualifications list as a 2nd Assistant Director. Most recently, Jay has gained a tremendous amount of experience working in the field of education. Working with students has taught Jay about resilience, patience, and persistence. He has a strong understanding of what people search for through entertainment and as he re-enters the film and movie industry, he comes with a deeper appreciation and renewed love for his craft. Jay Horne is a go-getter who, over the years, has learned how to negotiate, problem solve and navigate through the complex film industry. His expert interpersonal and organizational skills will make him a great addition to any team.

I really appreciate the work that innovative small business are doing to make this world a better place. I like the emphasis on family, humanity, self preservation and sustainability. I happened upon an independent Tedx produced by the Nile Rodgers We are Family Foundation at the Scholastic Auditorium in SOHO in March 2010. I walked into Scholastic to look around and met the organizers at the registration desk because they took an interest in the book I was reading, A Long Way Gone: Memoirs of a Boy Soldier by Ishmael Beah. I was invited as a guest to the TEDxTeen event and enjoyed every moment. The host, Simon Cohen, was energetic, clear, and lively. The speakers were interesting; Dylan Mahaligam of " The Ripple Effect", Sejal Hathi founder of Girls Helping Girls, Jennifer Corriero co-founder of TakingItGlobal, Benjamin Quinto of "Wired for Change", Jeni Stepaneck of " A New Hope for Peace", and Kimmie Weeks of "Chalk & Gun Powder" to name a few. I was inspired and moved to DoSomething! such as create, teach, connect, curate, produce, exhibit anything other than sitting still! The positive energy I had from meeting so many interesting pioneers stayed with me !
