An idea worth spreading
.All of them. One thing that I have learned from working with TEDx speakers is that some of the most brilliant people I have met do not even believe in their own story. I wonder how much this effects not only positive development in our communities but also the perception of the true talent pool in our workplaces and within our schools. We cannot afford to not start providing transparent safe spaces where real conversations can be had and where every voice is heard despite perceived ineloquence. Collaboration must become a soft skill that is developed because the very essence of it is embedded in ALL the learning we do. The old guard that still leads on the high horse leading their workforce must recognize that the current is changing. Now it is imperative that leaders cultivate the skills of how to guide and curate rather than dictate.

The TED story
Someone described my involvement in TEDxAmericasFinestCity as 'raising my hand too many times'. That was a fairly apt description. After volunteering at a Team Rubicon event, one of the organizers contacted me about running the video production at the inaugural event in 2011. The following year I ran the entire AV production, in 2013 I became Co-Director with Amber Bradner, bringing our event to the community level in an experimental warehouse space. In 2014 I partnered with SDSU's College of Extended Studies to hold a salon event exploring the concerns of local citizen in a genius forum kicked off by three inspiring change leaders. In 2015 I was asked to help the Cajon Valley School District kick off their first K-8 district level TEDx event. That was incredibly rewarding and, though I was unable to see it through to 2016, that event was soo amazing to see in terms of how a TEDx can evolve and create a large collaborative community. How CVUSD took the seeds of the first event and created a partnership between a sister school district, Vista Unified, and one of our largest corporations, Qualcomm for an adult oriented event to compliment the school level event truly humbled me as an organizer.
Things you might not know
...mind-mapping. My version of art is to break down a project into a thought tree - when people see one that I have created they always get a puzzled look and say the way I think is interesting.
