My name is Mohammad Zahedi and I have been an active entrepreneurial mentor, judge & organizer for the past 15 years in Isfahan, Iran. Before getting involved with entrepreneurship, I spent 10 wonderful years as a mountaineering instructor. Although I thoroughly enjoyed my career, I felt a need to get more involved in Iran's newly expanding entrepreneurial community. As with my previous role as a coach, I strived to provide the foremost material for my various students and mentees. After getting my MBA in marketing, I published numerous articles, editorials and books, such as my translation of Brad Feld’s Entrepreneurial Ecosystem for Iranian audiences. I established the nationally recognized website Isfahanplus to serve as the central hub for all entrepreneurial activities within one of Iran’s most active ecosystems. I have personally curated the Annual Sheik Bahai Technopreneurs Festival since 2016, Iran's foremost entrepreneurial festival. Along with my dedicated team, I coordinated, organized & celebrated Global Entrepreneur Week within the cities of Isfahan & Tabriz, with over 60 events, workshops & seminars related to all facets of starting, growing, and selling a business. I have served as a mentor for both Startup Weekend & Lean Startup Machine for the past 4 years. Around 2009, I was introduced to the, at the time unknown within Iran, spectacular platform known as TED. I was blown away with the quality of both the speakers and, more importantly, the content of their speeches. I had never seen such exquisite, scientific & inspirational lectures. I remember binge watching 10 TED talks including Teo Jansen and Barry schwarts amazing speeches the first night. I immediately fell in love with the message and community surrounding TED. I was later touched to discover TED’s local outreach program known as TEDx. This gave me a new vision and purpose, to spread the message and philosophy of TED to all corners of Iran. The first event I helped organize was TEDxNaghsheJahan. As a co-organizer, me and my team helped stage one of Iran’s very first TED events. I personally reached out, invited & curated most of the speakers for the occasion. It was an amazingly difficult yet unbelievably rewarding experience. I needed to do more. I later received a license for TEDxJolfaSalon, helping spread TED to my beloved city of Isfahan. Furthermore, I served as the main advisor for the organization and curation of both TEDxJanatPark and TEDxBojnoord.
