I am a Bay Area native, born in Alameda and raised in Oakland, and I received a Bachelor of Arts in Legal Studies at the University of California, Berkeley. With a passion for service, I immediately joined the military upon graduating from college. I served as an Infantry Officer for nearly 5 years, achieving the rank of Captain before being Honorably Discharged. My professional career after the military consisted of entertainment consulting work, and managing over 20 union workers for a fast-paced and demanding manufacturing plant. However, my eagerness to continue the pursuit of service led me to explore the senior care industry. During my time in the military, I was exposed to the importance of proper care at-home as I observed the care that my battle-wounded friend received. I realized that I could serve a community by providing the best in-home care for a population in need of quality service, so I started an in-home care agency. With the limited spare times I have, I serve as a Board Member and the Ambassador for the Alameda Chamber of Commerce and spend many of my Saturday mornings with my family delivering meals for Meals On Wheels of Alameda. I am also a student at the UC Davis, Graduate School of Management.

I’m passionate about hearing and sharing people’s unique stories, in hopes of spreading knowledge and ideas that people will relate to because the stories are that compelling. I believe ideas usually speak for themselves, but a beautiful narrative can turn an idea into inspiration. Also, lately, I have been obsessed with baking sourdough bread and pizza, using the yeast that lives in the air of the beautiful San Francisco Bay Area, in which I live.

Malcolm Gladwell's 'David and Goliath' TEDSalon talk is one of my favorite talks. Gladwell gives us insight into things that we have traditionally viewed as disadvantages, and how some of those things are actually advantages. He makes his case with convincing evidence, but captivates his audience through phenomenal storytelling. His perspective on disadvantages is a great encouragement, but what makes this one of my favorite Talks is the way Gladwell weaves and narrates the story.
