An idea worth spreading
As a long time educator in an affluent suburban community I am in despair about the one size fits all approach to teaching and learning. Conformity is the rule of law, creativity is sacrificed for teaching to the test, teaching without regarding teacher individuality and uniqueness. I would love to create an alternative school that would really work, putting the arts at the center of learning. But I would also like to be a part of a program of crazy nutty educators who want to change the way we all look at school, maybe spread the word as Al Gore has done with his "Inconvenient Truth"..What if there was a group of 100 savvy, funny, articulate educators who went on the road all over the country with whatever props, powerpoints, recordings, bells, whistles and powerful ideas designed to invite people to consider alternative models of educating this next generation? We need some critical mass here,of the right people being heard by the masses.
