Bio
I grew up supported and dazzled by my superhero teachers. When I later went on to work alongside many of them at my childhood elementary school, I understood their heroics lay in the ability not to impart, but rather to ignite learning.
From the classroom I spent years in the toy and game industry, focusing on ways to use play to deepen learning both at home and in the classroom. There I explored new ways to use media to further these goals by building community, sharing stories worth telling and engaging like-minded parents and educators.
In my current role as Director of Communications for one of the country's fastest-growing edtech companies, I focus on telling stories of transformative learning with new technologies. I also work with business press, contributing insight from a mission-driven company that sits in the space between for- and non-profit and measures success not by its bottom line, but by the gains of the students we serve.
A junkie for new ideas, I've spent years as an active member of the TED community and in 2015 organized a 400+ person TEDx event. I am a subscriber to the Conscious Capitalism ethos that businesses have tremendous power for good and am a founding member of the CC Boston chapter. I love working for and telling the story of a company that truly walks the walk in its commitment to bettering the lives of its stakeholders, from our employees to the students we serve.
I'm passionate about
Radical new ways to close opportunity gaps for students. Social-emotional learning. Businesses that measure success by social impact. Learning through play.
