I am Shiven Jain, a student currently enrolled at Indus International School Pune. Currently in my junior year, I'm navigating a challenging academic path with subjects like English Language and Literature HL, History HL, Economics HL, Hindi HL, Math AASL, and Chemistry SL. Reflecting on my academic journey, I've been fortunate to achieve perfect scores in subjects like Mathematics, Hindi, Chemistry, and others during the MYP E-Assessments in Grade 10, with a total score of 53/56. While academics are a significant part of my life, I am fortunate to have received recognition and awards. For instance, I was honored with a subject award in Mathematics and a scholarship to the Oxford Summer Program via the Immerse Essay Writing Competition for Geography. Furthermore, I won a Certificate of Distinction at the John Locke Essay Competition, and the Gold Award at the Queen's Commonwealth Essay Writing Competition. I am also the host of Ikkis: The Podcast, in which I discuss representation, inclusion and identity in postcolonial Hindi cinema. I've also contributed film and television reviews to platforms like Film Companion, Youth Ki Awaaz and my own blog, Flick Deposit. Additionally, I have found fulfillment in extracurricular activities and community service. I am involved in initiatives such as RAYS Magazine, where I contribute as the Head of Writing and Director of Content Development. My commitment extends to The Gaia Project and Daan Utsav, where we organize donation drives for children with HIV. Research is an area where I've explored my interests, and I was grateful to have my paper on "Reclaiming Sociocultural Agency: The Resurrection of India and Africa in Postcolonial Cinema" acknowledged by The Schola. In leadership roles, I've had the privilege of serving as Phoenix House Captain at IISP (AY 2023-24) and Bhoomi House Captain at SIS (AY 2017-18).. In the realm of parenting advice, I authored a book titled "Look Who’s Talking" at the age of 9. My journey has led me to speak at events like TEDxSIUKirkee and contribute to discussions about parent-child dynamics. I've had the opportunity to engage in internships and summer programs, including my term as the Assistant Editorial Intern at Daffodil Lane Books and a student at Brown Pre-College, where I received an A++ in my final assignment. I'm fortunate to be pursuing my education in an environment that encourages holistic excellence. I strive to learn, grow, and contribute positively in all aspects of my life!

I started off by giving a minute-long TEDx talk at TEDxBandra. Six months later, at the age of eleven, I found myself on the stage at TEDxSIUKirkee, where I spoke about parenting advice from a child's perspective, the central theme of my book, 'Look Who's Talking... Parenting Advice From A Child's Perspective!' Organizing my own TEDx event is only a step forward in this ever-evolving pursuit.
