Bio
Eythor Bender is the CEO of Ekso Bionics (formerly Berkeley Bionics), designer and maker of wearable robots -- or exoskeletons -- that physically augment humans. Ekso, an exoskeleton for wheelchair users who are committed to living life to its fullest, powers paraplegics up to get them standing and walking again.HULC’s (Human Universal Load Carrier) users can carry up to 200 lbs for hours and over all terrains.
Eythor has fostered innovation with bionic and medical technologies throughout his career, taking them from unconventional approaches to sustainable, approved products that help individuals participate in their community. Such was the case with the boomerang-shaped prosthesis Cheetah Flex-Foot® by Ossur, worn by the history-making, bilateral amputee Oscar Pistorius. Eythor’s team fought for, and won, Oscar’s right to compete in the Olympics.
