About Gil
Bio
Gil Winch Ph.D. is a social entrepreneur. After learning about the extreme worldwide unemployment of people with severe disabilities, he began researching and developing a
unique managerial model that enabled people with severe disabilities to achieve regular productivity in free-market businesses for regular market wages.
In 2008, he founded CY, an outsourcing services call center and for-profit social business that was staffed and managed primarily by previously unemployed, severely disabled people and other marginalized populations.
The surprising success CY has enjoyed as a social for-profit, demonstrated the importance of sharing CY's unique playbook with other companies who wish to enhance their diversity outcomes. His book Winning with Underdogs: How Hiring the Least Likely Candidates Can
Spark Creativity, Improve Service, and Boost Profits for Your Business (McGraw Hill 9-2022)was written with that purpose in mind.
As a keynote speaker, Dr. Winch has shared the stage with Bill Clinton and others and his recent TED Talk, ‘How We Can Use the Hiring Process to Bring Out the Best in People’, was filmed during the pandemic in 2020.
Dr. Winch is the recipient of numerous awards for social entrepreneurship and in 2011 was chosen by Israel’s leading economic newspaper (TheMarker) as one of the 100 biggest influencers on the Israeli economy. He earned his Ph.D. in Psychology from Tel Aviv University in Israel where he lives with his wife and two Vizslas.
