Robert Wah

Dr. Robert Wah is Senior Advisor at Health2047, the wholly owned subsidiary of the American Medical Association(AMA) that facilitates physician led innovation that has help start 12 companies to improve healthcare at scale. He is also Senior Advisor at Health2047 Capital Partners, a venture fund that has AMA as Limited Partner. Dr. Wah is also Former Chair of the Board of the Commons Project (TCP) Foundation, a 501c3 organization that sits between the Public and Private Sector building digital tools for public good. Projects at TCP include CovidCheck.org, a Covid risk assessment tool built in weeks and deployed globally in 9 languages; CommonHealth, the Android version of Apple Health; CommonPass where individuals can display their Covid testing/vaccine status in a privacy protecting way used by airlines and border crossings-all deployed in 2020. Member of Steering Committee for VCI.org a consortium that developed and deployed the SMART Health Card (SHC) a secure digital envelope for clinical info like Covid Test/Vaccine info. TCP has built the CommonTrust Network to verify SHC issuers and the SHC Verifier app in app stores to read SHCs. All of these TCP and VCI projects put health information in the hands of individuals in a privacy preserving way to use as they see fit. Dr. Wah was DXC’s Global Chief Medical Officer and former President of the American Medical Association (AMA). He has been lead Client Executive, run P&L, and actively engaged in M&A pursuits at CSC before it became DXC. He served over 23 years on Active Duty in the Navy and was the Associate CIO for the Military Health System where he led the requirements team of over 100 physicians, nurses, pharmacists and managed the portfolio of over $900,000,000 annual spend on Health IT tools covering over 520 hospitals and clinics worldwide for 10 million patients. At HHS, Dr. Wah served as the first Deputy National Coordinator for Health IT. He set up the ONC (Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT) and was Chief Operating Officer. Dr. Wah was vice chairman of the Navy's largest Ob/Gyn department with over 200,000 patient visits and 4000 annual deliveries and has served on the faculties of Harvard Medical School, University of California, San Diego and the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. Dr. Wah was elected Chair of the AMA Board of Trustees and served on the Board for 11 years. He also served on the Board of Directors for the World Medical Association, McKnight Brain Research Foundation, American Telemedicine Association and Higi. Dr. Wah did his training at National Naval Medical Center Bethesda and Harvard Medical School and holds two board certifications. He is also a graduate of the Advanced Management Program at the Harvard Business School. Dr. Wah's clinical work seeing patients, doing surgery and training students, residents and fellows was at the NIH (National Institutes of Health) and Walter Reed National Military Medical Center at Bethesda, Maryland.
