Bio

My career began in the arts in the 1990’s when I decided to volunteer for a Community Theatre based in an economically deprived community. From that moment on I literally fell in love with the power of the arts, education and creativity to change people lives, and particularly the way in which it enables us to articulate our view of our world. After studying Arts Management I spent many years working in community arts including in libraries and literature development. I worked for the Arts Council of England specialising in reader and literature development. Whilst at the Arts Council I was awarded a fellowship on the Clore Leadership Programme and spent time developing and furthering my interests in the arts. I have also worked in charities in fundraising and marketing roles, and grant giving roles advising smaller community groups on applying for funding and supporting them to develop their ideas. Since moving to Mexico I have trained to be an EFL teacher. In this role I strive to bring to the learning experience my many years of experience of working in the creative sector in order to inspire young people to take risks and to be responsible for their own learning so they may achieve their full potential. I have a CIPD Certificate Coaching and Mentoring and am ICELT qualified English Teacher.
