The TED story

I am the author of two comprehensive and apparently controversial books on the plight of migrant workers in the Gulf Arab region. While my books have received some attention in the West, they have angered the Arab rulers. They also fear that the chronicled injustices and inequalities will awaken the complacent and collective conscience of individuals who wonder how the benefits and costs of globalization can be reconciled to the mutual good of all. I knew and feared the consequences of bringing this to public light. As a result, pressures from the respective governments talked about in the books led to me being forced out of my career as a journalist in Dubai and deported to my home nation of Uganda.
