The TED story
During my freshman year English class, my teacher asked us to write a blurb about what bothered us, as young people. As the contentious 2016 election dawned upon us, I wrote about how adults struggle to take young people seriously. I turned my paragraph in, only to get it back the following class. On it was written, "What if we did a TEDx Talk at East Lyme High School? Come see me." I went to go see my teacher and we decided to create a team and begin planning. During my time at East Lyme High School, I organized three TEDx events with the help of my freshman year English teacher, Mr. Jeffrey Beale. We also created a TED-Ed club that helps students prepare their talks for an eventual TEDx presentation.
