Bio
I have lived and worked for 5 years as an environmental activist and journalist in the Brazilian Amazon, where I served major international NGOs like Greenpeace and Amazon Watch. I wrote hundreds of articles and participated actively in activism and communication campaigns in defense of the largest forest on the planet. All writings happened when I was the editor of a website called “O Eco”. Part of my job was to coordinate 24 reporters spread across the 9 countries where the Amazon exists (Brazil, Peru, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Suriname, Guyana, French Guiana and Bolivia).
In parallel with journalism and activism, I hosted 2 TEDx events in the State of Pará, the TEDxVer-o-Peso (2011 and 2013). Because of it, I was invited by TED to participate in two different international events: TED Global in Scotland and TEDxSummit in Qatar, where I met changemakers and decision makers from many countries.
In 2014 I founded a movement called Reconexão Amazônia (Reconnecting with Amazon) and started taking people to the Amazon to participate in a program I created in the practice of Deep Ecology, a philosophy that brings ethics to how we related to the planet. In 2015 I was invited by Satish Kumar to take a Masters Degree in Holistic Science at Schumacher College, England. I am currently living and working in Australia supporting environmental education and conservation, with a special focus on the Big Scrub (NSW) and Daintree Rainforest (QLD). I do workshops, give classes and talks on my story, Deep Ecology, activism and conservation of biodiversity. My aim is to continue to support organisations that focus on the conservation of the environment and I´d like to do it by using all the tools and resources I've gained over so many years in service to the Earth.
I´ve given many talks along my life, including on a TEDx event in Brazil. Most recently, I was interviewed by Bay FM (99.9) in Byron Bay, by Wavemakers podcast from Plastic Free Gold Coast and also in 2019 a conversation between me and PDd Peter Westoby from Queensland University of Technology was published at New Community Journal, a scientific Australian magazine. I´ve been cited in books, one of them being The End of Ice - Bearing Witness and Finding Meaning in the Path of Climate Disruption by Dahr Jamail, USA. Last year, I told my story and shared my experience with students from Environmental Law at Newcastle University. In the past, I was cited by The Guardian and ABC news. I am passionate by the Earth, I honor activists and I am deeply commited to make a difference.
